3 Tips for Balancing Blood Sugar on Vacay

  1. Eat protein with every meal.

I know its easy to grab for the fries immediately while laying on the beach and soaking in the sun. But ADDING in protein is such an easy way to keep you fuller for longer and your blood sugar stable throughout the day by slowing the process those fries hit your system.

  2. Drink lots of water.

The easiest place to get dehydrated is on vacation. Think about it. You’re probably drinking alcohol, eating salty foods, doing activities without your normal access to a BRITA, and its leaving you hella dehydrated throughout your trip and therefore your blood to be less diluted. Make the easy add in and carry a water bottle with you wherever you go! OR drink 8 ounces before your margarita. If its not realistic for you then you won’t do it. How can you make drinking water realistic on your next vacation?

  3. Move your body every day.

so hitting the hotel gym isn’t your thing? Don’t be alarmed. It isn’t most people’s cup of tea. Moving your body on vacay could be as simple as going for a 15 minute walk on the beach with friends. Or swimming with your kids in the pool. You could walk to dinner instead of paying for the 5 minute Uber. Adding in simple, mindful movement does in fact make a difference and will help boost insulin sensitivity while you may be consuming foods different than your normal diet at home.
